Guidance only, not an official warning. This is an experimental outlook made by one person. It is not issued by, and has no connection with, the UK Met Office or any official body. For official advice follow the Administration.
Email alerts
Strong winds for the Settlement / Patches are rare, so nobody needs to keep checking the page. Get an email when the outlook reaches a level you choose.
Do not rely on this alone. Emails can be delayed, filtered as spam or not arrive at all, and the outlook can miss a storm.
It is guidance only. Follow the Administration's advice.
How often will I be emailed?
Looking back over 46 years, the outlook would have reached Watch or above about once a year, Elevated or above about once every 3 years, and High about once every 6 years (more detail). An email is sent when the outlook rises into a level you chose, and again at most once a day while it stays there. Nothing is sent on quiet days.
Your address and privacy
- Your address and chosen level are used only to send these alerts. Only the website author can see them, and they are never shared or sold.
- Every email has an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing deletes your address straight away.
- Addresses that are not confirmed within 7 days are deleted.
- Emails are sent through Google's Gmail service, so Google handles them on their way to you.
- To be removed, or to ask what is held about you, contact the website author.
Not an emergency service. How the outlook works, and how far to trust it.
